If you are a regular reader of my blog, surely you already know how to distinguish the parts of a blog without problems , but I wanted to write this post for beginners in the blogging world who come to my blog and need basic training. Then I explain the 5 main parts of a blog.
A blog is formed by different parts or sections that knowing how to take advantage of them, you can get a lot of performance.
How basic training I have published in my blog different posts how:
- Characteristics of a blog
- What is a blog for
- How to make a WordPress blog step by step
Next we are going to see the 5 main parts of a blog and how they should be used to convert your blog into a professional blog.
Parts of a blog. The 5 parts you should know
1. Blog header
As its name already indicates, the head of a blog is at the top of it and that's where the logo of your blog first appears.
Normally, the logo includes a link to the main page of the blog.
In the header of the blog also usually appears a menu with the main or most important pages of the blog, such as, the page about, contact, etc.
In my header I also include a resource page where you can access a list of courses and tools I use and recommend and another page as a complete guide to create your own blog in a matter of minutes.
The header is usually visible on all pages of the blog.
2. Main column
This is the part where the posts that we publish appear and where the content of each post or page appears.
In this content we can publish text, images, videos, links, etc.
In my blog currently the main column occupies the full width of the blog, since I do not use sidebar, giving greater importance to the content that I publish in my posts and removing all kinds of distractions for the reader.
3. Sidebar o lateral barra
The sidebar is a small sidebar that usually appears on one side of the content of the main column and is used for the reader to access different widgets with all kinds of functions, such as:
- Widget with subscription form for the reader to subscribe to the blog.
- Widget with the last published posts.
- Widget with the profiles of social networks.
- Widget with author information.
- Banners with advertising.
- ...
In my case (as I mentioned) I decided to delete the sidebar in all posts on my blog and this only appears on the blog page that you can see here .
4. Homepage
In many blogs the main page is only used to show the list of the last published posts, although increasingly, bloggers use the main page to show a static page with important information for the reader, where it is displayed to show important information of the blogger how:
- What is the blogger dedicated to or what the blog is about
- Subscription to the blog
- Services offered
- Products or courses
- Other information
You can say that the main page is the landing page where you get to know the reader and try to capture the reader as a subscriber, or even as a customer to close a sale or contracting a service.
5. Footer
The footer is the footer that appears at the bottom of the blog and is usually displayed on all pages of the blog.
In the footer you can also display different widgets that we want to show the reader, such as a contact form or pages of interest to the blog.
