This is the first post in a series where I want to share in a practical way how to position and monetise a website with Google Adsense . Let's start
There are people who, although they have read hundreds of cases of people who have managed to make money with a blog , are still not clear that it is possible.
For this reason, I have decided to start this series of posts where I will share the whole process that I am following with a new blog that I just created to position it in Google and monetize it with CPC (Google Adsense).
In this way, you can check that you do not have to be an expert in SEO or marketing to have a website that makes you earn money every month.
It is clear that you need training, but with the right training, anyone can create a blog to make money online .
If you are interested in this experiment to see the results I'm getting, I encourage you to subscribe to my blog at the end of this post, so I can inform you of the results I'm getting.
How to position and monetise a website with Adsense
Step 1. Choose a niche market
One of the steps that I consider most important when creating a new project on the Internet is to select well the niche market to focus on and the keywords with which we want to appear in Google with that blog.
It is important to analyze in depth the competition that we will have on the first page of Google with these keywords.
Example:
The keyword "hotels" can have hundreds of thousands or millions of searches, but that does not mean that it is a good idea to try to position a hotel blog, since the competition with this keyword is brutal: Atrapalo, Destinia, Logitravel, Trivago ... and so a lot of companies that surely have very high budgets to invest in SEO.
In this case, how I want to monetize with Adsense, I searched for keywords that are informative. You know, the typical searches we do on the mobile when we are in a family conversation after eating and a question arises.
... your brother-in-law quickly takes the phone and searches the Internet:
- How tall is the Chinese wall?
- What is the most luxurious hotel in the world?
- How many inhabitants does Switzerland have?
- How old is King Juan Carlos?
- ...
These types of searches are long tail keywords that do not usually have a lot of competition, and if you search well, you can find many that are searched thousands of times each month.
I have managed to find a type of search that is constantly being done and with which there is not much competition in Google.
The downside of this type of search, is that in many cases the same Google is responsible for answering users, so the CTR of the pages in first position do not think it is as high as with other keywords.
You can see how Google takes away more and more work in the following example:
Step 2. Create the blog
The first thing I have done is to search expireddomains.net for an expired domain that already had some authority.
I could find one related to the theme I was looking for with a DA 14 and PA 28. Great!
You already know that all my blogs are created with WordPress and I host them in the hosting that I have contracted with Hostgator .
I can have unlimited domains for less than € 11 / month.
If you still do not know the steps to create your blog or to hire a hosting with Hostgator, in this guide I explain everything. You will have your project ready in 15 minutes.
If to hire your hosting you prefer to do it with a Spanish company, without any doubt, the best is Raiola Networks and in this link you can contract your hosting with them with a 20% discount.
Once the blog is created, what I do is install a Genesis Framework template . I have been using this framework in all my blogs for several years and it is the cane.
Step 3. Generate content
In this process I am currently.
At the moment I have only published 2 posts and both have positioned themselves on the second page of Google just indexing them.
Now I will continue generating content trying to position hundreds of posts, only focusing on the selection of keywords and the SEO Onpage.
The truth is that we are not talking about posts of more than 1,000 words. They are simple posts of 300 words with the answer to what users ask, so it is relatively easy to publish 2 or 3 posts every day, although how I am working on several projects, do not expect me to publish 50 posts per month
Done this, in a few months I will devote myself to SEO Offpage with several quality links from authoritative websites.
Blog monetization
As I have already mentioned, being a blog where people only arrive to solve a doubt (they do not want to buy anything) the only way to monetize it is with Adsense.
I will try to optimize the position of the ad units, the colors used, etc. and to wait for the clicks to start arriving.
This type of blog is not how to earn a salary to say goodbye to your boss, but if you can generate an extra income each month of about 300/400 €.
But let's go in parts and do not go crazy ... the important thing now is to generate content and position it in Google so that visitors begin to arrive.
